Principal’s Update 30 November

CELEBRATING TWO OF OUR YEAR 6 STUDENTS

One of the most treasured parts of a school principal is to see and experience times when our students are recognised and acknowledged for their achievements and I have the privilege to see all of our students work hard every day to improve themselves, their school and community.

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Alison Harcourt Award ceremony at the Hawthorn Arts Centre, presented by Dr Monique Ryan Federal member for Kooyong. This new award program acknowledges and recognises the contribution of students from Primary and Secondary Schools in Kooyong who have gone above and beyond for other members of their school and community.  It was both a pleasure and privilege to see Livinia Fardin and Laycee Hollingworth-Darmos receive the Alison Harcourt award.

Both of these students consistently support their peers and seek out opportunities to serve the school. Laycee and Livinia have demonstrated dedication and commitment to making our school a better place through their initiatives and actions.  Congratulations Livinia and Laycee.

CHILD SAFETY AND WELLBEING AT BELLE VUE PRIMARY SCHOOL: INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES AND THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY

Last year, the Victorian Government announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Belle Vue Primary School has successfully completed an assessment of our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on the http://www.bellevueps.vic.edu.au/bvps2/?page_id=114

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions about Child Safety at Belle Vue Primary School, please contact the school office.

SCHOOL TRANSITION
The transition to a new class represents a major change event in children’s lives, so we’re preparing them through a range of different transition activities over the next few weeks. This supports our children in a way that builds confidence, resilience, and a belief that they can handle change events like this when they occur.

To further ensure that everyone makes the best possible start to 2024, all students will spend time with their 2024 teacher and classmates as part of our in-school transition program. There will be three transition dates.

Friday Dec 1

Friday Dec 8

Thursday Dec 14

We aim to set up each year for success, for students and teachers.  We ensure there is a balance of personalities, academic abilities, interests, and preferences in each class.

If there is anything we need to be aware of to support a successful transition for your child, please ensure to contact me directly via email. andrew.wood@education.vic.gov.au
