L’aula d’italiano (the Italian classroom)

Prep students are learning to count 1-1; they are beginning to learn numbers orally and recognise them in printed form. We have been reading ‘Il Piccolo Bruco Maisazio’ (The Very Hungry Caterpillar) and students are beginning to complete a number cut and paste.

Grade 1/2 students are learning about colours and days of the week using the story ‘Il Lupo Che Voleva Cambiare Colore’ (The Wolf Who Wanted to Change Colour). They are developing their Italian vocabulary and comprehension skills by answering questions related to the story. Students are working on a cut and paste matching task related to the story.

Grade 3/4 students are exploring the topic of ‘l’astuccio’ (the pencil case), they are learning vocabulary for items for inside your pencil case and learning to recognise the key features of masculine/feminine nouns in singular and plural form.

Grade 5/6 are exploring ‘Le Materie’ (Subjects), they are learning vocabulary related to subjects school as well as working on their conversational skills so as to ask people their preference for subjects at school. They are learning to respond to such questions so as to express preference and negation for various subjects.
