TEACHING AND LEARNING AT BELLE VUE

At Belle Vue Primary School, we are proud to be embracing a new, research-informed approach to the teaching of mathematics, guided by the latest findings from the Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO). This evidence-based practice is designed to deepen students’ understanding, build their confidence, and ensure strong foundational skills through explicit teaching, purposeful practice, and rich mathematical thinking. Our commitment to this approach reflects our dedication to providing high-quality, contemporary education that supports every learner to achieve their best.

LIBRARY FUND – CLASS BUDGETS.

At Belle Vue Primary School, we value student voice and empower our learners to actively contribute to decisions that shape their school experience. During this term, each class will be provided with a budget, that they will use towards selecting and purchasing new books for our school library. This is an authentic and real-life experience for our students to positively impact and influence our school, whilst ensuring we are providing high-quality and contemporary literature for students.

PROUDLY SUPPORTING FIGHT MND

Belle Vue Primary School is proud to join the fight against MND to raise vital funds and help eradicate the Beast!

We currently have a member of our community, Peter Ruddock, who has been living with MND for 30 years and is one of the longest-surviving people with this disease. Peter is a former teacher at Belle Vue Primary School and the grandfather of three of our students.

Despite his daily challenges, Peter has remained positive, witty, and actively engaged within the community. He was interviewed in November 2022 by Tracey Grimshaw, who was one of his former pupils.

Peter is a life member of the Principals Association and a Life Member of the Australian Swimming Teachers and Coaches Association. He is a 50-year member of the Melbourne Cricket Club, a passionate Melbourne Football Club supporter, and a proud father and grandfather.

Peter is a proud man, a resilient man, a soft-hearted man with a strong exterior—who has a twinkle in his eye.

On June 6th, Belle Vue Primary School will be hosting our own Big Freeze event in honour of Peter and his connection to our small community.

We are a strong, tight-knit community that rallies behind its members in times of need, and we are proud to support this cause.

We will have both water-based and non-water-based events and activities for students to enjoy during the event, and our principal, Andrew Wood, has committed to enter a dunk tank if $700 is raised via the Fight MND website.

Students can wear blue on this day with a gold coin donation.

We would love any support and media coverage for this event to raise awareness and funds—and to further illustrate the importance of humanity, community, and the values of compassion, resilience, and ‘fighting on’.
