Our Prep students have had a very successful start to school. It has been delightful to see how excited and enthusiastic they are about going to Belle Vue and, how quickly they have adapted to the classroom environment, as well as playing happily out in the playground. Thank you to Ms Clare Woodhouse for ensuring our newest, and littlest, people have had a smooth transition into school. Such a big step and they have shown such independence and confidence – a really positive start to their year.
COMMUNITY/WELCOME BBQ & OPEN-AIR CONCERT
We are very excited to host our upcoming Community/Welcome BBQ on Tuesday March the 11th from 5pm to 7pm. As an added event to this evening, STOMP Dance company will run an Open-Air Concert, between 4pm and 5pm. Each class will be taught a dance during school hours to perform in the weeks leading up to the 11th. We are very excited to be able to provide the experience of performance and dance for our students and this will complement our school production later this year in Term 3.
BERRY STREET EDUCATION MODEL
At Belle Vue, we know that our students’ wellbeing and learning thrive in spaces that promote consistent predictable routines. We recognise our curriculum should enhance and support our students’ wellbeing and learning and these two pillars should work together. To support us to build a schoolwide learning and wellbeing focused environment we have partnered with Berry Street to train our staff to implement the Berry Street Education Model. Our staff have completed two full days of training so far and we have two more days later this year. This evidence-based framework is a whole school approach to creating a safe and positive learning environment so that all students can learn in a calm and orderly classroom. A whole school approach helps all students understand the routines, expectations and behaviour required for all classes, no matter their teacher.
I trust our students will be receptive to this change and understand and appreciate the benefits this consistent approach will bring to their learning, creating safe, calm and organised classrooms that are optimal for the learning of all students.
The Berry Street Education Model is designed to support student development in the Domains of Body, Relationship, Stamina and Engagement and Character all in the service of enhanced learning and wellbeing. Over the next several newsletters, I will go into each of these domains in more depth.
SAVE THE DATE- SCHOOL PERFORMANCE AUGUST 21
After such a very successful performance in 2024 and after feedback from our students, our school concert this year will be on Thursday August the 21st at Karralyka Centre in Ringwood. This performance is a fun filled and positive event for all of our students to be involved in, especially our senior students, who will commence auditions for main parts later this term. As part of the Victorian Curriculum all students are expected to perform and participate.
