Overview
With a student population of 194, Belle Vue is situated in spacious grounds in North Balwyn. The school draws its current population from North Balwyn and Bulleen communities. Facilities upgraded in 2003 in the administration area included a new office area, staff room, sickbay and additional withdrawal space. More recently we have refurbished our Junior Building with funding from the NATIONAL SCHOOL PRIDE initiative. This included the painting of classroooms, retiling and painting of toilet, a new phone and public announcement system, new floor coverings, new lighting and we enclosed breezeway. Other facilities include a music room, art/craft room, computer room, library and a multi purpose hall.
There is an oval, basketball court, a new synthetic grass netball court and cricket pitch, a soccer area and recently updated play equipment areas. A new synthetic play area across the front of the school was constructed in 2004. There are many mature shade-trees, lawn areas and asphalt play areas.
Our school takes pride in its strong community atmosphere, which fosters a strong active partnership between students, staff, parents and the local community. Parental involvement covers a wide range of activities including: shared reading, fund raising, lunch days and sporting activities. Programs at Belle Vue Primary School are supported formally by a hard working School Council and Parents and Friends’ Club.
Belle Vue provides Before and After School Care for families requiring this service. The program is managed by CAMP AUSTRALIA.
The Belle Vue Primary School vision is to ensure all students have the opportunity to become independent thinkers. We aim for them to be literate and numerate, to promote their health and wellbeing and to encourage interaction with others in a positive and caring way. We recently introduced the You Can Do It Program and children are developing an understanding of the keys to success which are Confidence, Getting Along, Persistence, Organisation and Resilience.
Curriculum Planning at Belle Vue Primary School is outstanding, and a credit to our staff. Our dedicated team work hard to ensure our students receive a well rounded program. Physical Education and the Arts are areas of high priority. Our students actively engage in numerous sporting events. We also have two performance assemblies per term and a Mid Year Concert as a celebration of the talents of our students. We have an active Choir, Recorder Group and Dance Club. A number of students participate in individual music tuition.
