Year 34 Camp

This year‛s camp took place at PGL Campaspe Downs and was offered to all students in grades 3 and 4. Students took part in the Discover program which focused on building independence and confidence, discovering new skills and embracing new experiences. They also had to brave the wintry Campaspe Downs weather and experience being away from their home comforts. Feedback from the students and staff has been fantastic and it definitely proved to be a successful camp. You can read some of the student reflections below.

In the last three days of term two I went on camp with all my friends and classmates in my grade. It was really exciting and terrifying at the same time because I had never ever slept away from home before. We got there on a bus and I sat next to my friend. It took about an hour and a half to get there but when we got there we were all cheering and were really excited. (Eva)

When we got to go to our cabin, I ran in because I wanted to get the top bunk. I was the first one in our room and I felt excited and a bit jumpy. When my friends came, we had a lot of fun. (Palash)

In possum glider you had to get your harness and helmet on. Then you had to hang your harness on the rope. Only one person can hang on the rope so the rest of the group has to pull a rope to make the person go up. You go around 10 metres up. (Keigo)

At archery you had to put on a wrist guard so you won‛t hurt yourself when you shoot. You have to use your fingers to grab the handle and then you got an arrow and placed it between two gold things and then you shoot. I got the bullseye so I got to go first in the line for dinner. (William)

I want to tell you about the flying fox. When we did this we went into a building and we put our harnesses on. Everyone needed some help tightening everything from the teachers and instructors. After that we went down to the flying fox. Four people could go at a time so we chose our group and went to the platform. After a few minutes of waiting we went up the steps to the top. Then we separated and after that we got connected to the lines. Then we were off! It was so cool! The view was amazing! When we landed I was happy and sad at the same time. Sad because I won‛t be able to do it again and happy because I loved it. (Beth)

One of my favourite activities was sensory trail. What you had to do was to put on goggles that were covered. Then you followed a bell blindfolded all the way to the sensory trail. Then you followed a rope with items on it to get to the end. (Maya)
