In previous lessons students learned about variables and how to conduct a fair test. Following on from this the students then designed their own insulated house. A warm cup of water was placed inside the house and the students had to accurately monitor the temperature and compare it to a control sample.
The results of the different tests showed that the insulated houses retained their heat more effectively. Following the test the students had to discuss the real world implications for this experiment. This included the importance of insulation and keeping doors and windows closed so as to keep heat inside.
