Bentornati!

Buongiorno a tutti! Bentornati (welcome back) to another year of learning in the Italian classroom and benvenuti (welcome) to all the new students and families at Belle Vue Primary School.

All classes have all been busy busy, it is hard to believe that we are already approaching the 5th week of term 1!

The preps have learnt how to use basic greetings, have begun identifying with some Italian colours and numbers and are learning songs such as ‘Ciao Buongiorno’, ‘Cinque Scimiette’ (Five Little Monkeys) and ‘Dieci Piccoli Indiani’ (10 Little Indians).

Grade 1 and 2 students have been exploring colours and greetings and are now learning to express ‘le emozioni’ (emotions) in Italian.

Grade 3 and 4 children are exploring greetings and numbers and have learnt how to introduce and describe themselves, including their ‘viso’ (facial features).

Grade 5 and 6 students have been exploring greetings and using their prior knowledge in Italian as well as their research and dictionary skills to write ‘una poesia acrostica’ (acrostic poem) using their given name.

Multicultural Day is coming up on Wednesday 22nd of March, students can start thinking about their multicultural dress ups for the day. This year, as a change from previous years, students will be watching and participating in a ‘multicultural dance’ production run by EPR Productions. They will also have the opportunity to take part in an Italian classroom lunch. This will operate as a lunch order. We encourage all students to get involved in this shared lunch experience! More information will follow in upcoming newsletters so stay tuned!
