Principal’s Message

Belle Vue is a wonderful school with a dedicated staff who are highly qualified and committed to ongoing improvement for all students. With a student population of approximately 200, Belle Vue is situated in spacious grounds in North Balwyn. Recently our Junior School Council held a green day and every child planted a tree at the school.  The school draws its current population from North Balwyn, Kew East and Bulleen communities. Facilities upgraded in 2010 in the administration area included a new office area, staff room, sickbay, student toilets, computer tables, lighting, air-conditioning and additional withdrawal spaces. Throughout the last two years we have seen a major building project being built where our senior building once stood. The old building was demolished to make room for a new building consisting of six classrooms, withdrawal interview rooms, toilets, teacher areas and flexible learning spaces. This is a very exciting time for Belle Vue.

At Belle Vue we believe children learn best when:

  • They are actively involved in their learning
  • They take responsibility for their own learning
  • There is clear demonstration and expectation
  • They have a positive self esteem
  • The learning fulfils their own needs, purpose and interest
  • There are positive links between home and school

Other facilities include a Library and a multipurpose hall. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have an oval, basketball court, a synthetic grass netball court and cricket pitch, a soccer area and recently updated play equipment areas. Children also enjoy using our synthetic play area across the front of the school. There are many mature shade-trees, lawn areas and play areas.

Our school takes pride in its strong community atmosphere, which fosters a strong active partnership between students, staff, parents and the local community. Parental involvement covers a wide range of activities including: shared reading, fund raising, lunch days and sporting activities. Programs at Belle Vue Primary School are supported formally by a hard working School Council and Parents and Friends Association.

Belle Vue provides Before and After School Care for families requiring this service. The program is managed by Camp Australia (Mobile 0401006481 or email bellevue@oshccampaustralia.com.au).

The Belle Vue Primary School vision is to ensure all students have the opportunity to become independent thinkers. We aim for them to be literate and numerate, to promote their health and wellbeing and to encourage interaction with others in a positive and caring way. We are a You Can Do It school and children are developing an understanding of the keys to success which are Confidence, Getting Along, Persistence, Organisation and Resilience.

Curriculum Planning at Belle Vue Primary School is outstanding, and a credit to our staff. Our dedicated team work hard to ensure our students receive a well rounded program. Physical Education and the Arts are areas of high priority as well as other core subjects. Our students actively engage in numerous sporting events. We also have two performance assemblies per term and a Mid Year Concert as a celebration of the talents of our students. We have two Choirs, Dance Clubs, Chess Club, Running Club (Monday and Thursdays at 8.15am), Soccer for Grade 4-6 (after school every Thursday). A number of students participate in individual music tuition. Our Music teachers teach Guitar, Drums and Piano.

Every day, every teacher is on duty for 20 minutes immediately after school to be available to you, our community.

I look forward to welcoming you to the Belle Vue community.

Regards,

Cathy Caminiti
