Belle Vue Primary School is pleased to provide Grades 5 and 6 students with a comprehensive Bike Ed program. Bike Ed helps children aged 9 to 13 years develop the skills they need to ride safely and independently on roads and paths.
The program involves a mix of practical activities conducted off-road (in the school grounds) and on-road (on local roads), together with classroom activities. The Bike Ed program consists of five modules:
- getting started
- basic bike skills
- building skills for riding in traffic
- riding on paths and
- riding on-road.
Teachers undertake additional training to conduct Bike Ed. Belle Vue is proud to resource such an important learning program for our students.
In 2014, following two terms of Bike Ed training, our students participated in the Bike It! regional finals. One of our teams moved onto the state Bike Skills Final and claimed the state title. Congratulations on winning this state championship!
