Shapes within shapes

Did you know that there are shapes WITHIN shapes? We were amazed!

The grade 1/2 classes have been learning all about 2D shapes this week. We have learnt about the different properties of shapes, their names, and how many corners or edges they have. Today we looked at how some shapes can be constructed by other smaller 2D shapes.

First we used an interactive website to put together different combinations of rectangles, triangles, squares, rhombuses and trapezoid together to make different shapes.

After that, we worked with shapes on the floor to try and find shapes within shapes. Then we drew and labelled all of our combinations on our task sheet. What a great job we did!
