On Tuesday and Wednesday of week 8, the years 5 and 6 students held their Enterprise Days. This was the culmination of almost two terms worth of learning and hard work as the students organised their own pop-up market on the Belle Vue grounds.
As part of the Enterprise unit, students explored the issue of children’s rights around the world. They investigated and compared the lives of children in different countries, living in vastly different circumstances to themselves and researched charities that focused on returning children’s rights as determined by the UN. Students examined how charities raised money and resources, before taking the opportunity to raise a little money themselves.
Using the design process the students developed products, games and food to sell to the younger Belle Vue students. They engaged in market research and sought feedback from peers and teachers to improve their ideas. The result was two excellent days of business and an amazing $1330.10 raised for various charities.
Well done to all the year 5 and 6 students! And thank you to everyone who participated, donated or contributed to the Enterprise Market. Your business was much appreciated!
