As a conclusion to our Push and Pull Integrated Studies unit, this week the students in grades 1 and 2 presented their sustainable playground designs and models.
As part of this project, each student was required to choose at least 5 separate structures (pieces of equipment) using at least 3 different building materials.
The pieces of equipment had to demonstrate the students understanding of: the push force, the pull force, a combination of the push & pull forces, floating (in air or water) and sinking (in air or water)
When speaking about their designs and models, the students we able to tell us all about how each piece of equipment worked, why they chose each sustainable material, and how it is a sustainable or environmentally friendly choice. We were truly blown away with all of the efforts that each and every student put in.
